Hamburg / Kassel - E-mobility is an increasingly important topic, especially for older people and those with physical complaints. Accordingly, the selection of suitable batteries or accumulators is also playing an increasingly important role in rehabilitation aids, as was impressively demonstrated at the Expolife international trade fair for medical, rehabilitation and orthopaedic technology. AKKU SYS presented a wide range of solutions.
One of the main advantages of battery-powered solutions is the improved mobility they offer. This gives the user more freedom and independence. Another advantage of such aids is that they are often lighter and easier to operate. With batteries, complex mechanical systems can also be replaced by simple electronic controls, which simplifies both set-up and operation.
The most common areas of application for batteries in the rehabilitation sector are electric wheelchairs, electric walking aids (rollators), compact electric mobility scooters (mobility scooters for the elderly), defibrillators, prostheses with built-in battery systems, electric stand-up aids (e.g. lift chairs), electric stair or bath lifts, orthopaedic insoles and shoes with special cushioning systems.
The specialist and wholesaler AKKU SYS works with manufacturers to develop customised battery solutions for several of these electrical aids. The rehab team offers a wide range of products that are specifically tailored to the needs of their customers. From small, portable batteries for everyday use to large, powerful batteries for professional applications.
One example of an application for rehab products is the LC series / LCP series from Q-Batteries. It is a series that is specially tailored to the rehabilitation market and is therefore very popular in this market segment. The long range, reliable power supply and ease of use give users the mobility and independence they need. Customers can always rely on the performance of the batteries sold.
Björn Nowosadtko, Managing Director of AKKU SYS, emphasising the importance of such solutions: "Based on the sharp increase in the number of discussions, we continue to see enormous growth potential in the market for rehab technology. These products mean a whole new level of freedom for people with disabilities, such as the elderly, and can help them to remain active and mobile independently for longer."
Market forecast for Germany: at least 30 per cent growth by 2025
The importance of the market for electric rehabilitation aids and mobility scooters for the elderly should not be underestimated, as demographic trends in Germany are leading to an increase in the elderly population. Younger and younger people are also switching to such aids. According to forecasts by the Federal Statistical Office, the proportion of people over the age of 60 will rise to 34% by around 2035. This also means that more and more people will be dependent on mobility aids in order to lead an active life.
According to estimates by wholesalers, the market for electric rehab aids and mobility scooters for the elderly is set to grow by 2035. AKKU SYS grow by at least 30%. Dealers, rehab centres and manufacturers who are active in this area are requested to work with AKKU SYS to enter into dialogue about customised battery solutions.
