Batteries for safety technology
In modern buildings, the safety of people and machines is essential. Our lighting and safety solutions ensure continuous safety in the event of a power failure by automatically activating emergency lighting. We offer reliable batteries for emergency lighting, fire alarm systems and intruder alarm systems that ensure round-the-clock protection.
Is there a danger to people if the power fails?

Emergency lighting for buildings
There are various solutions for emergency lighting:
-
Continuous operation (permanent light operation):
The emergency lighting is continuously active.
-
Standby circuit (switch-on in the event of a power failure):
The emergency lighting is activated automatically in the event of a power failure.
-
Separate control of the emergency lights:
The lights can be switched on and off separately, controlled by electronic modules. In the event of a power failure, these modules ensure that the emergency lights are forcibly switched on.
Professional maintenance is essential to ensure that the emergency lighting functions reliably!
Professional maintenance for reliability
We have specialised in the professional maintenance of safety lighting and offer you:
-
Complete maintenance contracts: You don't have to worry about a thing.
-
We know the maintenance intervals for your system and arrive at the right time
Other areas of application for batteries in safety technology
-
Electroacoustic systems (ELA)
Electrical loudspeaker systems for transmitting information despite power failures, particularly relevant in airports, railway stations, public buildings, department stores and sports facilities.
-
Smoke alarm/fire detection systems (SHEVS/FAS)
Warning people inside the building and alerting the fire brigade and security personnel. With a battery for your fire alarm system, reporting to the nearest alarm centre is guaranteed.
Batteries for your SHEVS & BMA -
Intruder alarm/robbery systems (intrusion detection systems)
Technical, exclusively electronically operated devices for property and personal protection. Secure your alarm system with our batteries.
Batteries for your EMA & ÜMA -
Uninterruptible power supply (UPS)
Uninterruptible power supply for critical electrical loads in the event of faults in the power grid, for example in sensitive IT infrastructure.
Batteries for your UPS -
Unterbrechungsfreie Gleichstromversorgung (UGV)
Reliable supply of critical loads through rectifiers and selected batteries.
-
Battery-supported central power supply systems (BSV)
24V DC systems for operating theatre lights or 230V AC systems for essentials with a safety power supply, e.g. in areas used for medical purposes such as hospitals, medical centres, etc.
In addition to supplying lights in safety technology with reliable and long-lasting batteries, there are many other possible applications which AKKU SYS with expertise and innovative solutions.
Our comprehensive range covers a wide spectrum of requirements to ensure you always have the optimum energy supply.
Professional disposal of old lead
We take care of the certified and professional disposal of all types of batteries. In most cases, the raw materials can even be completely recycled.
Frequently asked questions
Do you have questions about safety technology?
Here you will find a summary of the general questions and answers in the field of safety technology.
If we have not answered your questions, please contact us by e-mail or telephone.
We will be happy to help you.
What does the abbreviation "VdS" stand for?
VdS stands for "Verband der Sachversicherer e.V." (Association of Property Insurers). The VdS tests rechargeable batteries that are relevant for safety technology. If a battery fulfils the requirements of the VdS, the battery type receives a "Certificate of Approval of Components and Systems". The "VdS" certificate has become an important quality indicator for the security technology sector in Germany.
How do I recognise whether a battery is "VdS" approved?
It is a requirement that every "VdS" approved battery is labelled with an approval number. This number must be printed both on the battery and on the packaging. We will also send you a copy of the certificate on special request.
Are the dimensions of "VdS" products standardised?
VdS certification does not automatically standardise the dimensions of the battery. In fact, a tacit standardisation of battery housings has been established in practice. Batteries with the following capacities are generally identical in terms of their dimensions: 1.2 Ah, 2.3Ah, 7Ah, 12Ah, 17Ah, 24Ah, 40Ah, 65Ah
Is it possible to install different battery capacities in the systems?
100%his question can only be answered correctly in conjunction with the VdS-approved control panel. The operating licence for the system specifies the maximum permissible battery capacities.
Is it possible to replace individual defective batteries from a system (consisting of several batteries) with new ones?
Replacing individual blocks is not recommended due to the service life of the old batteries. The different service lives result in different capacities and internal resistances in a system. The consequences are potential shifts. One battery is discharged slightly more than the other due to the internal resistance, while one battery is already full when charging and may be overcharged, while another battery has not yet been fully charged.
Conclusion: The older battery pulls the new battery "down". The service life of the entire system is not extended.
Replacing individual batteries is therefore not recommended!
Are the appropriate connectors automatically supplied with blocks?
No, the connectors are not supplied with all block batteries. Please contact us.
Can I replace my batteries with other brands?
Yes, in most cases there are replacement products from other manufacturers. We will be happy to discuss this with you on a case-by-case basis.
